Scouting Report

Denver Nuggets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder Scouting Report
Date: Thursday, October 21
Tip Time: 7:30 PM MT
TV Listing: ESPN
Venue: Paycom Center

1. Story of the Game

  • Season Opener!

  • No Moral Victories!

    • But also a moral victory would be fine

2. Nuggets Strengths

A. Countering The Counters

  • Denver has the ability to counter the smallball switches the Thunder use on Nikola Jokic as long as Aaron Gordon and/or Trevon Brazile can punish in the dunker

  • The absence of Lu Dort does fundamentally change this particular mismatch. You can leave Dort on an island with Jokic and then bring late help. That’s tougher with Ajay Mitchell/Cason Wallace/Jared McCain

    • Alex Caruso will still be a problem since he can suplex Jok and get away with it.

  • Spencer Jones helps with his ability to space to punish the overload help OKC will send at Jokic but having cutters matters too
